These are full time roles on a rolling contract located in a 260 bed secondary general hospital catering to a regional population of 200,000 and growing. There is a 24/7 emergency department, range of medical and surgical services, paediatrics, obstetrics and gynaecology and psychiatry supported by radiology, pathology and anaesthesiology. This hospital has many posts accredited for postgraduate training and provides extensive supervision, training and continuing medical education. This General Physician position is available in a multidisciplinary hospital-based team providing integrated medical care to a rural, yet well developed region, emphasising health promotion and disease prevention. The Hospital A compact public sector 50 bed hospital with 24/7 emergency department, family medicine department and secondary care services which include general surgery, orthopaedics, internal medicine, paediatrics, obstetrics and gynaecology, anaesthesiology, intensive care, ophthalmology, pathology and radiology (including CT scan, mammography and ultrasound). There is an accredited CME program and an allowance for CME activities. Duties You will join a team of internists providing 1 in 4 – 1 in 5 cover, managing hospitalised patients and outpatients. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team providing integrated care, in close contact with family physicians. ensure a strong emphasis on health promotion and disease prevention. Remuneration for a position of Medical Internist available at Fee-For-Service or on a salary scale. Salary scales are determined by the Provincial Department of Health and Community Services and start with Step 1 at $215,749 and increase to Step 5 at $258,316. A yearly retention bonus is also available, starting at $12,000 after the firstyear and increasing to $36,000 after the third year. Additional remuneration is also available for salaried physicians for coverage of call in excess of 1 in 3.

Responsibilities Attendance at handover meetings, ward rounds, outpatient clinics, ward meetings, case discussions. Attend and assist at consultant’s outpatient clinics Assess where appropriate, acute and arranged medical admissions/referrals under the care of the team to which the Registrar is attached. Two Registrars daily participate in the Medical A and B call rosters, taking responsibility for attending “cardiac arrest” call when rostered to that duty.
