Role & Responsibilities To be proficient in the running of high-volume phacoemulsification lists under local anaesthesia acting as the Lead Surgeon. Essential Criteria Have Specialist Registration in Ophthalmology/ Fully Qualified Have or had a substantive post in the NHS Have recent experience in high-volume Cataract surgery

The successful candidate will participate in all aspects of ophthalmology outpatient care at a leading service, duties will include management of general, glaucoma and medical retina. Suitable candidates will additionally be offered the opportunity to provide surgery should we have any requirements. Applicants will be required to demonstrate a high level of skill in the following areas: · Slit-Lamp examination · Gonioscopy · Fundoscopy · Tonometry · Focimetry · Biometry · Corneal suture removal · Use of Bandage Contact Lenses · Interpretation of Visual Fields/ OCT and FFA Desirable skills include: · High Volume Phacoemulsification under topical anaesthesia · Intravitreal injection · Retinal Laser treatment Applicants will be expected to have an excellent clinical quality record, and an ability to perform efficiently and independently in clinic whilst providing exceptional care. Applicants will need to demonstrate commitment to excellent teamwork with clinical colleagues and a willingness to utilise and develop clinical care pathways in the overall management of patients and assist in improving these pathways over time. It is likely the post holder will provide responsibility for the clinical supervision directly or indirectly of non-medical staff and participate in audit.
