Consultant Gastroenterologist/Associate Specialist Gastroenterology

The Gastroenterology team is looking to appoint a colleague who is committed to delivering high-quality services across the breadth of gastroenterology and hepatology. Depending on the candidate experience and qualifications this appointment may be made at either Associate Specialist or Consultant level. In addition, we will consider flexible working, including a less than full-time post, and/or a post with elective activity (clinics and endoscopy) only

This post has arisen due to the increasing demand for endoscopy and outpatient activity. Any sub-specialty interest (including advanced or interventional endoscopy) will be considered. Appointing the right colleague, who will enhance and work within the team, is our primary aim.

The department of gastroenterology at Musgrove Park Hospital (Taunton and Somerset Hospital) runs a comprehensive gastroenterology & hepatology service to West Somerset (350,000 population) with over 2,000 new outpatient referrals to the department and almost 11,000 endoscopy procedures in the last. There are currently nine consultant gastroenterologists providing the full range of GI services. We are the regional hub for the NHS bowel cancer screening program and have expanded to bowel scope screening.
