Assistant Director of Nursing - Tour 2 (7am - 3pm)Under general supervision of the Associate Director of Nursing, assists with the planning, organizing, directing, coordinating and evaluating of nursing service and education programs of the hospital, diagnostic and treatment center, or a major unit within the Department of Nursing. Performs related work.1. Assists in developing policies, objectives and standards of nursing service and education. 2. Assists in the preparation of personnel, supply and equipment budgets. 3. Assists in the development of administrative procedures and programs of patient care. 4. May have responsibility for planning, organizing, directing, coordinating andevaluating the nursing service in a major clinical division, or a home health agency in a hospital, participating in selection, placement and follow-up of patients transferredto homes. 5. Under direction of the Chief Medical Officer for East New York, plans, organizes, supervises and controls medical and health care services in the areas of Women’s Health- OB/GYN. This position is a clinical as well as supervisory position with responsibilities including rendering patient care, management of department staff, management of department policies and coordination with other clinic directors and administration.• Formulates policies, methods and procedures and prescribes standards for treatment, diagnosis, control and prevention of illness.• Reviews, monitors and supervises methods of delivering care and evaluates patient care.• Provides dental services within the scope of approved privileges• Documents all patient contact in the EMR in a timely manner.• Assumes responsibility for their panel of patients and those patients they care for.• Provides relevant health education and instruction; counsels patient/family/responsible other on the impact of illness and principles of health promotion and maintenance.• Provides clinical and didactic instruction to professional staff, peers, students and community groups and conducts in-service educational programs, as needed.• Collaborates to provide care coordination of activities in providing comprehensive care. A Social Worker is needed to provide evaluations and social work services to JMC patients in the Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Service. The Child Specialist works with children/adolescents/families to create Crisis Stabilization Plans after the initial face to face crisis assessment. Follow up visits are determined by the evaluation.

• Follow blood bank and laboratory's established policies and procedures, accession specimens and orders into the LIS and HCLL, perform tests, which require the exercise of independent judgment and responsibility, with a minimal supervision by the director or supervisor, in only those specialties, or subspecialties in which they are qualified by education, training and experience.• Reporting of findings, perform tests requiring special scientific skills, and, in the absence of the blood bank manager/director, responsible for the proper performance of all blood bank procedures.• Perform bench work on basis of laboratory needs for optimal patient care and quality assurance functions as needed.• Knowledgeable about the contents of the policies and procedures (including changes) relevant to the scope of their testing activities.• Day-to-day review of test performance by testing personnel, monitors blood bank laboratory processes to ensure that acceptable levels of analytic performance are maintained, to include review of quality assurance practices, environmental monitors, instrument and equipment maintenance/function checks, quality control, calibration, and review reports as needed.• Assures safe working environment, capable of identifying problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and either must correct problems or immediately notify laboratory management and document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratories established performance specifications.• Helps manager/assistant director review all QC, maintenance logs and patients’ results and ensures internal and external customer inquiries are responded to courteously, accurately and in a timely manner and complaints are properly resolved.• Ensures that PT samples are treated like patients and quality controls.
