The Nurse Burn Registrar is responsible for the identification, abstraction, entry, validation, productivity, and quality of ICD 10 CM-PCS and AIS coding of data for burn registry databases. UMC Level Burn Center registry databases are required by appropriate regulatory agencies to include American Burn Association, and Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals. The data shall be obtained from the patient electronic medical record. The position maintains compliance with identification and abstraction of burn quality improvement (BQIP) quality data. This includes monitoring and assisting in the coordination of PI activities in patient care for burn patients, as well as performing quality audits/validations to ensure compliance with requirements and standards. The position requires critical thinking knowledge and skills to identify patient complications and identify causes of complications related to patient care
