Cardiographer (ECG Technician)

Cardiographers, also known as ECG technicians, are specialized cardiovascular technicians who focus on performing electrocardiograms (ECGs or EKGs), stress testing, and Holter monitoring. They play a crucial role in a hospital's cardiac department, working alongside cardiologists and other healthcare professionals to assess and monitor patients' heart and blood vessels. Their primary responsibility is to operate electrocardiograph machines to monitor the heart's electrical activity and obtain readings from the ECG. These readings are then used by doctors to make informed decisions about treatment options. In addition to ECGs, cardiographers may also be involved in various other cardiovascular monitoring and treatment procedures, such as echocardiography, exercise testing, tilt testing, blood pressure monitoring, pacemakers, and ICDs. With their expertise and attention to detail, cardiographers contribute significantly to the diagnosis and management of cardiovascular conditions. General Responsibilities: 1. Collaborate with a team of cardiologists and healthcare professionals to assess and monitor patients' heart and blood vessels. 2. Operate electrocardiograph (ECG) machines to monitor the heart's electrical activity. 3. Take readings from the ECG and provide them to doctors for treatment decision-making. 4. Perform other cardiovascular monitoring procedures, including echocardiography, exercise testing, tilt testing, blood pressure monitoring, pacemakers, and ICDs. 5. Ensure accurate and precise documentation of all procedures and patient information. 6. Maintain and calibrate equipment to ensure optimal performance. 7. Educate patients on the purpose and process of various cardiovascular tests and procedures. 8. Adhere to strict safety protocols and infection control measures. 9. Stay updated with advancements in cardiovascular technology and techniques. 10. Provide compassionate and empathetic care to patients throughout their cardiovascular assessments and treatments.
