Molecular Biologist

A Molecular Biologist is a professional who examines the genetics of plants, animals, and humans, studying the variation and relationships between them. They utilize their knowledge of chemistry, physiology, genetics, physics, and biology to work with DNA and RNA from various organisms. In their work, Molecular Biologists employ advanced laboratory equipment such as cloning kits, DNA synthesizers, electron guns, and temperature cyclers. Deductive reasoning and critical thinking are regularly emphasized as they strive to bring about changes in processes and develop new methodologies to solve problems. One of their key focuses is on altering genetic properties to aid in the treatment and prevention of diseases. General Responsibilities: 1. Developing new methods for diagnosing and treating diseases 2. Detecting and identifying environmental pollutants 3. Studying genetic variations and gene expression in different species to understand inheritance patterns 4. Testing the effectiveness of drugs used in the treatment of various diseases and gene growth 5. Analyzing DNA sequences to identify differences that may indicate susceptibility or resistance to diseases 6. Designing and conducting experiments, and effectively communicating the results to the appropriate team 7. Developing and maintaining standard operating procedures for conducting experiments 8. Determining and recommending laboratory needs, including equipment, supplies, and computer hardware and software systems
