Hospital Medicine

Hospital Medicine Physicians are clinicians who specialize in providing general medical care to hospitalized patients. Their primary focus is on coordinating the care of patients with other professionals on the medical team. Unlike other specialties, they are not limited to a specific organ, disease, or patient age, but rather provide comprehensive care within the hospital setting. General Responsibilities: 1. Treating unassigned patients 2. Reducing length of stay of the patient 3. Maximizing throughput and improving patient flow 4. Improving patient safety and quality of care 5. Assessing patient health through interviews, physical examinations, updating records, and studying medical histories 6. Providing diagnostic, preventative, and therapeutic health services to patients and their families in the hospital 7. Evaluating and treating patients in consultation with or as the primary attending physician 8. Coordinating the hospital's diagnostic, therapeutic, and consultative resources 9. Following through on cases to ensure effectiveness and adjusting treatment as needed
