Medical Oncology

Medical Oncologists are specialized doctors who diagnose, assess, treat, and manage patients with cancers. They utilize various tests such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computed tomography (CT scan), and biopsies to examine patients. Their primary goal is to provide the best possible outcome for cancer patients, whether it be a cure or palliation and prolongation of good quality life. Medical Oncologists also play a crucial role in managing a patient's care throughout the entire course of the disease, from diagnosis to recovery or end-of-life. General Responsibilities: 1. Diagnosing cancers 2. Discussing treatment options with patients 3. Arranging and supervising drug treatment and therapies, including managing any complications 4. Supporting patients and overseeing their care, including post-treatment life 5. Leading a cancer treatment team of various healthcare professionals 6. Coordinating treatment plans and prescribing various types of treatment, including chemotherapy and immunotherapy 7. Treating patients with radiation therapy 8. Assisting patients with pain management 9. Performing surgical operations to remove tumors and determine cancer spread 10. Providing information to patients about the disease and conducting physical examinations 11. Maintaining close contact with patients throughout the treatment process
