General Surgery

General surgeons are physicians with a wide range of knowledge and skills to perform surgery. They are trained to provide surgical care for the whole patient, which includes making the diagnosis and preoperative, operative, and postoperative management of patient care. They perform operations to treat or prevent diseases, repair damage caused by injuries, correct deformities, and improve the functions of the human body. General Responsibilities: 1. Examine patients and make diagnoses to determine the need for surgery. 2. Diagnose internal injuries and diseases, and prescribe medication or surgery. 3. Review patient medical history and plan the best procedure for treatment. 4. Order and analyze diagnostic tests. 5. Determine the type of surgery needed and collaborate with concerned healthcare professionals. 6. Evaluate and advise patients on the risk involved with having surgery. 7. Consult with and assist other doctors. 8. Perform surgical procedures to prevent or correct injury, disease, deformities and patient function while adhering to regulatory and ethical protocols. 9. Prescribe preoperative and postoperative treatment and procedures. 10. Refer patients to specialists and other professionals.
