Medical Biochemistry

Medical Biochemists are physicians who are trained in the operation and management of hospital biochemistry laboratories and act as consultants in all aspects of their use. They work as part of a hospital medical team responsible for investigating and diagnosing patient illnesses. Medical Biochemists are also responsible for analyzing and interpreting results obtained through diagnostic testing of physiological samples, such as blood, urine, and other body fluids. Their expertise helps diagnose and manage diseases through the analysis of these samples using various tools and techniques. General Responsibilities: 1. Understanding human disease and providing consultation 2. Interpreting results obtained from diagnostic testing 3. Performing complex analyses on specimens of body fluids and tissues 4. Ensuring the quality of clinical biochemistry investigations 5. Auditing the diagnostic and clinical use and performance of investigations 6. Developing new and existing tests, often automated and computer-assisted 7. Designing experiments to test theories about chemical functions in the body 8. Investigating abnormal biochemical conditions 9. Analyzing chemicals in the body using techniques like gel electrophoresis and amino acid assay 10. Maintaining accurate calibration and constant testing conditions 11. Demonstrating problem-solving skills and formulating hypotheses
