Service Technician Medical Equipment

A Service Technician Medical Equipment is responsible for handling complex medical equipment and instruments in hospitals, clinics, and research facilities. They test, adjust, and repair biomedical or electromedical equipment, ensuring that laboratory and healthcare equipment are in good working order. They also install, maintain, calibrate, and repair various types of equipment, while providing training to others on how to operate them. Service Technicians may work for equipment manufacturers as salespeople or service technicians, or for healthcare facilities specializing in the repair or maintenance of specific equipment. General Responsibilities: 1. Inspect and test malfunctioning medical and related equipment following manufacturers' specifications, using test and analysis instruments. 2. Examine medical equipment and facility's structural environment to ensure proper use and compliance with safety regulations, protecting patients and staff from electrical or mechanical hazards. 3. Keep records of equipment maintenance, repair, and required updates. 4. Perform preventive maintenance or service tasks such as cleaning, lubricating, and adjusting equipment. 5. Install new equipment by adjusting, establishing, testing, and calibrating performance. 6. Approve potential biomedical equipment by ensuring adherence to codes. 7. Maintain supplies inventory by anticipating needs, counting stock, placing orders, and verifying delivery. 8. Compute power and space requirements for installing medical, dental, or related equipment and install units to manufacturers' specifications. 9. Repair shop equipment, metal furniture, or hospital equipment, including welding broken parts or replacing missing parts. 10. Fabricate, dress down, or substitute parts or major new items to modify equipment to meet unique operational or research needs, working from job orders, sketches, modification orders, samples, or discussions with operating officials.
