Medical Equipment Preparer

Medical Equipment Preparers are qualified healthcare staff who sterilize and maintain medical equipment. They play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and effectiveness of medical procedures by performing various tasks. These include equipment installation, inspection and reporting of defective equipment, and assembling specialized medical procedure carts and surgery trays. In addition, they may also operate medical equipment and maintain inventories to ensure an adequate supply of necessary items. General Responsibilities: 1. Clean medical instruments to prepare them for autoclave steam sterilization. 2. Assemble routine or specialist instrument trays and other sterilized supplies. 3. Examine and test medical equipment for malfunctions, faulty gauges, leaks, and worn or loose parts. 4. Request equipment repairs or replacements in a timely manner. 5. Assist with medical equipment deliveries, installation, and calibration. 6. Stock medical carts and monitor supply expiry dates. 7. Operate specialized equipment such as respirators, oxygen support systems, dialysis machines, and laboratory equipment, when required. 8. Keep medical equipment records, including maintenance schedules and sterilization test reports.
