Allergy and Immunology

Allergists/immunologists are physicians specifically trained to diagnose, treat and manage allergic, asthmatic, and immunologic diseases. They also treat patients with adverse reactions to drugs, foods and insect stings, as well as immune deficiency diseases and problems related to autoimmune disease, organ transplantation, or malignancies of the immune system. General Responsibilities: 1. Diagnose, treat, and manage disorders and diseases of the immune system. 2. Educate patients on treatment options, prognosis, and diagnoses related to immunology and allergy conditions. 3. Order and conduct various diagnostic tests and laboratory procedures to help diagnose immunology conditions or allergic conditions. 4. Perform blood and patch tests to identify the presence of harmful allergens. 5. Gather and maintain medical histories of patients to ensure proper care in the future. 6. Maintain comprehensive data reports regarding specific patients and the progression or regression of their symptoms. 7. Provide training and consultation education to other physicians and healthcare providers and advise them regarding allergy and immunology healthcare-related issues. 8. Conduct clinical research and laboratory testing on allergy and immunology concerns. 9. Present clinical research or laboratory research findings at national conventions, national meetings, networking meetings, peer-reviewed journals, and publications.
