Pediatric Nephrology

A pediatric nephrologist specializes in the health needs of infants, children, and adolescents with kidney diseases and disorders. They are experts in evaluating and treating problems with growth and development that are specifically related to chronic kidney disease. In addition to managing kids' diets, medications, dialysis, and kidney transplants, they also play a crucial role in providing care before and after kidney transplants and other kidney surgeries. They are responsible for creating lifestyle plans to help patients maintain their kidney function, which may include dietary and medication changes. Pediatric nephrologists evaluate a patient's medical history and kidney function, and diagnose and treat acute and chronic diseases and conditions that affect children's kidneys, such as diabetes, childhood nephrotic syndrome, kidney failure, hemolytic uremic syndrome, hereditary kidney disease, and kidney stones. General Responsibilities: 1. Diagnose and treat diseases in the urinary system 2. Perform kidney biopsies 3. Interpret radiographic 4. Provide care before and after kidney transplants and other kidney surgeries 5. Create lifestyle plans for helping patients maintain their kidney function including dietary and medication changes 6.
