Urogynaecology

A urogynecologist specializes in the care of women with urinary problems, such as stress urinary incontinence, overactive bladder, or pelvic organ prolapse. They focus on the surgical and non-surgical treatment of non-cancerous gynecologic problems. Some of the common problems treated by a urogynecologist include urinary incontinence or leakage, pelvic organ prolapse (dropping of the vagina, uterus, cystocele, rectocele), and overactive bladder. General Responsibilities: 1. Performing physical exams 2. Conducting medical tests 3. Determining a diagnosis 4. Updating the patient's medical records 5. Recommend a treatment plan 6. Educating patients about their medical conditions 7. Counseling patients on their surgical and nonsurgical treatment options
