Speech and Language Technician

A Speech and Language Technician is a professional who is responsible for organizing and implementing therapy programs to meet the needs of speech, language, and deaf and hard of hearing students. They work under the guidance and supervision of a certified or licensed speech/language pathologist in various settings such as schools, hospitals, clinics, and long-term health care facilities. Their main role is to assist speech-language pathologists in conducting client screenings or assessments, implementing treatment plans, and remediation or development of speech and language skills. They also collect and compile data to document clients' performance and progress towards meeting treatment objectives. General Responsibilities: 1. Assisting speech-language pathologists in conducting client screenings or assessments of language, voice, fluency, articulation, or hearing 2. Implementing treatment plans or protocols as directed by speech-language pathologists 3. Assisting speech-language pathologists in the remediation or development of speech and language skills 4. Collecting and compiling data to document clients' performance or assess program quality 5. Documenting clients' progress toward meeting established treatment objectives
