A Healthcare Assistant (HCA), also known as an HCA, is a vital part of the team that cares for the patient. They play a crucial role in ensuring the patient's experience is as comfortable and stress-free as possible. HCAs provide support to medical staff and patients in various wards and departments throughout the hospital. Under the supervision and direction of qualified healthcare professionals, they carry out a wide range of duties to care for, support, and provide information to patients and their families. General Responsibilities: 1. Look after the physical comfort of the patients 2. Keep departments clean and tidy 3. Set up equipment required by Healthcare Professionals 4. Record vital signs such as blood pressure, temperature, blood glucose, and pulse rate 5. Measure patients' weight 6. Provide personal care including prevention and control, food, personal hygiene, and overall reassurance, comfort, and safety 7. Improve the mobility of patients 8. Prepare patients for therapy 9. Listen and talk to the patients 10. Promote positive mental/physical/nutritional health with patients 11. Make up beds, give out bedpans, and collect bedpans 12. Ensure that supplies and medical equipment are replenished
