Podiatry Support Worker
Description:
Podiatry Support Workers work closely with podiatrists to provide comprehensive foot care treatments and support to patients. They assist in minor surgeries, offer advice on foot and nail care, and ensure that the podiatrist has all the necessary equipment for patient treatment. Additionally, they perform various procedures such as taking insole templates, cutting toenails, and applying dressings as per the treatment plan recommended by the podiatrist. Podiatry Support Workers also provide valuable education and guidance on personal foot care to patients. They may be involved in tasks like manufacturing orthotics, wound management, diabetic foot screening, and therapeutic ultrasound under the guidance of the podiatrist.
General Responsibilities:
1. Provide clinical support to the Podiatrist, ensuring they have all the required equipment for patient treatment.
2. Prepare patients for treatment by cleaning their feet and ensuring their comfort.
3. Perform simple procedures like taking insole templates, cutting toenails, and applying dressings based on the podiatrist's assessment and treatment plan.
4. Offer advice and education on personal foot care to patients.
5. Carry out tasks as instructed by the Podiatrist, including manufacturing orthotics, wound management, diabetic foot screening, and therapeutic ultrasound.
