Patient Transport Service (PTS) Driver
Description:
Patient Transport Service (PTS) drivers drive disabled, elderly, sick or vulnerable people to and from outpatient clinics, day care centres and routine hospital admissions. They are also responsible for looking after your passengers and, because many of them will be in poor health, you will also need life-saving skills in case there is a medical emergency. PTS drivers play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and comfortable transportation of patients, while also providing support and care during the journey.
General Responsibilities:
1. Ensure appropriate reaching, lifting, and handling techniques are applied when moving patients, following training guidelines.
2. Follow health and safety guidelines according to current policies and procedures.
3. Maintain sanitary conditions by removing and replacing soiled linen and equipment, following standard operating procedures (SOP).
4. Convey patients in a safe, comfortable, and sympathetic manner, while observing road and driving conditions at all times.
5. Transport patient's personal possessions and medical equipment as required.
6. Perform daily routine vehicle checks, replenishing oil and water as necessary, and completing necessary administration.
7. Report any vehicle defects, including accident damage, promptly.
8. Keep the vehicle clean inside and out to ensure a pleasant and hygienic environment for patients.
