Pediatric Physician Assistant

Pediatric physician assistants work closely with pediatricians to diagnose and treat young patients. They are qualified to practice medicine and provide a range of medical services. These professionals conduct patient examinations, prescribe medication, administer vaccinations, and diagnose injuries and illnesses. They update and maintain patient medical histories, perform tests, and provide treatment. Pediatric physician assistants specialize in providing medical care for children under the supervision of a physician. They may work in doctor's offices or hospitals. General Responsibilities: 1. Discussing care and treatments with families 2. Recording medical histories 3. Examining the results of medical tests 4. Taking patient histories 5. Performing physical examinations 6. Assisting in surgery 7. Overseeing the care of patients within an intensive or transient pediatric setting 8. Assisting the physician with any procedures while ensuring patient comfort, privacy, confidentiality, and well-being 9. Administering medications and injections as directed by a physician or nurse 10. Documenting medication details in the patient's chart following clinic policy 11. Applying orthopaedic devices as directed by a physician or nurse 12. Assisting the physician with exams, medical procedures, and treatments 13. Rooming patients and accurately documenting vital signs, current medications, and other relevant information in the patient's electronic chart 14. Preparing exam rooms with necessary equipment and ensuring cleanliness on a daily/weekly basis
