Occupational First Aider (OFA)

Occupational First Aiders are highly skilled professionals who are trained to provide immediate medical care in emergency situations. They are valuable assets to any organization, as they possess the ability to take decisive action and save lives. Regardless of their regular job title or duties, occupational first aiders are always ready to respond to emergencies and deliver life-saving treatments. While they may often play a background role tied to other tasks such as security or nursing, their main responsibility is to provide immediate medical care before the arrival of further medical help. General Responsibilities: 1. Placing an unconscious casualty into the recovery position 2. Performing Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) 3. Using an automated external defibrillator (AED) 4. Stopping bleeding using pressure and elevation 5. Keeping a fractured limb still 6. Managing the incident and ensuring the continuing safety 7. Assessing casualties and determining the nature and cause of their injuries 8. Arranging for further medical help or other emergency services to attend 9. Prioritizing casualties based on medical need 10. Providing appropriate first aid treatment 11. Making notes and observations of casualties 12. Filling out any required paperwork 13. Providing a handover when further medical help arrives
