Description:
Exercise physiologists are professionals who analyze their patients' fitness levels to help them improve or maintain good health. They develop fitness and exercise programs specifically designed to aid injured or sick patients in their recovery process. Some exercise physiologists collaborate closely with primary care physicians, who prescribe exercise regimens and refer patients to them. Working in tandem with patients, exercise physiologists create personalized treatment plans to help individuals achieve their health and fitness goals.
General Responsibilities:
1. Analyze the medical history of patients to assess their risk during exercise
2. Administer fitness and stress tests using medical equipment and analyze resulting patient data
3. Evaluate overall health, with a focus on cardiovascular function and metabolism
4. Measure blood pressure, oxygen usage, heart rhythm, and other key health indicators
5. Determine the most suitable exercise and fitness regimen to enhance physical fitness, strength, endurance, and flexibility
6. Tailor treatment plans to meet patients' healthcare needs and athletic performance goals
