Hand Therapist

A hand therapist is a highly skilled professional who specializes in helping patients with a variety of disorders and injuries of the hand, arm, wrist, and fingers. Through advanced continuing education, clinical experience, and a deep understanding of anatomy, physiology, and kinesiology, hand therapists are able to provide effective treatment for pathological upper-quadrant conditions resulting from trauma, disease, or congenital or acquired deformity. Their goal is to help patients regain function and return to work and a more active lifestyle. General Responsibilities: 1. Provide therapeutic intervention to prevent dysfunction 2. Evaluate and treat any problem related to the upper extremities 3. Assist patients with exercises to improve strength and mobility 4. Take detailed medical histories to understand patients' conditions 5. Conduct tests and measurements to assess patients' abilities 6. Provide rehabilitation after hand-related surgeries 7. Offer preventive care and industrial ergonomic consultation to prevent future injuries
