MRI Technologist

The MRI Technologist operates the magnetic resonance imaging equipment to produce images of the body for diagnostic purposes. They run the magnetic resonance imaging scanner to create a diagnostic image for the physician. They maintain imaging equipment and ensure that their patients are protected and in an optimal position for imaging. They must work closely with the physician by taking medical histories, keeping records, and adjusting the scanner as directed. Additionally, they communicate effectively with other radiologists and healthcare professionals to ensure accurate information exchange. The MRI Technologist plays a crucial role in ensuring patient safety and providing high-quality images for diagnosis. General Responsibilities: 1. Performing complex tasks associated with the operation of high field strength magnets and related equipment to produce special radiographic images of specific body parts. 2. Positioning patients for MR scans using immobilization and protective equipment to comply with government regulations and ensure the safety of patients and staff. 3. Performing Radiological procedures when not performing MRI duties. 4. Operating equipment for imaging and related procedures on various areas of the body to provide high-quality images and information for patient diagnosis. 5. Troubleshooting peripheral equipment and scanners to ensure proper operation and avoid downtime or delays that may affect patient satisfaction. 6. Ensuring patient safety through aseptic injection technique and pre-screening for any contraindications before the procedure. 7. Explaining the MRI process to patients and ensuring compliance with all safety standards. 8. Positioning and, if necessary, sedating patients to capture clear images of the correct area of the body. 9. Removing and replacing IVs and catheters for the MRI process.
