Health Psychologist

Health Psychologists work with patients of all ages and with varying physical or psychological health issues to help them understand their illness. They help patients respond to and manage the psychological and emotional aspects of health and illness. Health Psychologists explore factors that affect an individual's well-being, including biological, psychological, and social impacts. They study the various reactions of individuals when diagnosed with a particular disease, as well as factors that affect their treatment choices. Additionally, they assist patients through chronic disease care, such as diabetes or substance abuse. Health Psychologists also promote healthier lifestyles and try to find ways to encourage people to improve their health. They perform assessments and conduct interviews, develop and implement specialized patient care programs, and improve coping mechanisms and increase social support using interventions such as chronic disease management, relaxation therapy, or stress relief.
